Sports Day 2013 was a hugely enjoyable event this year as the sun shone throughout the entire event. Held on Friday, June 7th from 9.30 am until 12.30 pm, the variety of events was most impressive. There really was something for everybody in the 9 “stations” arranged on the field. From the parachute, through the “egg and spoon” race to the volleyball and basketball skills trials, the whole school was occupied in a fun way for three hours! The traditional sprint heats and finals were also held, so there was no-one left out!
The many parents who came this year were able to sit comfortably in the new viewing area on the widened pathways, giving them a birds-eye view of the proceedings.
At 12.30, following conclusion of the scheduled activities, the children were treated to a party in their classrooms. A well-earned chance to rest, eat, drink and discuss the fun they had on the field.
Meanwhile, the parents were treated to tea, coffee and biscuits in the school hall. There was a great buzz around the school on that day and the occasion was enjoyed by everyone. Then, at 1 o’clock the children were free to go home, tired but happy.
Well done to all the boys and girls for their enthusiasm and great behaviour during the day. Sincere thanks to the organising committee led by Ms Brid Kavanagh. Well done!
p.s. the medals and trophies were presented during school hours recently…
