On Friday, 21st March last, six students from St. Mary’s and St. Declan’s wentdown to the Community School for the Finger Spelling Bee. It was like a normal spelling bee except while saying the letters you also had to show them in sign language. It was great fun. During the break there was entertainment, a raffle and a bake sale. We came back with 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize. Everybody had a brilliant time.

Well done to Aoife Kirwan (1st), Leah Butler (2nd) and Orla Shortt (3rd).

School Music Groups Perform Brilliantly at

Córfhéile na Scoileanna 2014!

We are delighted that both Ms Dowling’s recorder group, taken mostly from Mr Giblin’s 5th Class and Ms O’Shaughnessy’s 5th Class tin-whistle band and choir, performed so well at Córfhéile recently.

We heard that they really ENJOYED their experience in the NBA Tallaght and so did all who heard them perform. Well done to their teachers, Ms O’Shaughnessy, Ms Dowling, Mr Giblin  and a huge WELL DONE children!

Check out the pictures, taken by Mr Giblin…

Córfhéile na Scoileanna is an annual, non-competitive music performance festival for primary schools, with the emphasis on fun and enjoyment.  We’ve been involved for many many years and the children love it!

Children like to perform for other children and each group gets to see the others before and after they take to the stage themselves. The  standard is very high and we’re delighted that we had TWO groups taking part this year.
