Mr Walsh Retires
Mr Walsh Says Goodbye…
At a special assembly on June 28th, Mr Jimmy Walsh, Deputy Principal, said goodbye to teaching as he is to retire at the end of the summer after 34 years in Saint Mary’s. The whole school was assembled to wish Mr Walsh well.
There were prayers and readings to thank God for all that Mr Walsh did for the school and the pupils over his long career.
The speakers included, Mr Pat O’Connor, Chairman of the B.O.M., Mr Ó hÓbáin, Principal and finally, Mr Walsh himself, who shared some of his memories of his time in our school. He thanked everyone who had helped him along the way and had great praise for the wonderful pupils of Saint Mary’s, past and present.
Several presentations were made to mark this great occasion and Mr Walsh was absolutely delighted with each one.
To round off the proceedings, the whole school sang Mr Walsh’s favourite song, “The Bold Thady Quill” with great gusto, while Mr Walsh conducted us all in the chorus!
Good luck in your retirement Mr Walsh.
